Gas sponsorship is the perfect welcome mat for new users, but it can’t last forever. What happens when your most engaged users deplete their sponsorship budget? They hit a wall: the dreaded on-ramp. The process of signing up for an exchange, completing KYC, and transferring funds just to buy a few cents worth of gas is a huge point of churn.

Refract Pay is our answer. It provides a seamless, KYC-free “fast track” for users to top up on gas or purchase in-dApp items directly with the payment methods they already use every day, like Apple Pay and Google Pay.

The “Top-Up” Experience

Refract Pay is designed to be virtually invisible, appearing only when needed. It bridges the gap between a sponsored transaction and a fully self-funded one.

Here’s the user journey:

  1. A user, having exhausted their GasMaster budget, attempts a transaction.
  2. The transaction fails due to insufficient gas.
  3. The Refract Passport overlay intelligently catches this specific error.
  4. Instead of a cryptic error message, the Passport presents a simple prompt: “You need more SUI for this transaction. Top up for $1.00?”
  5. The user taps “Approve” and confirms the purchase with their device’s native payment sheet (Apple Pay/Google Pay).
  6. The funds are instantly converted to the necessary gas token, and the original transaction is automatically resubmitted.

The user never leaves your dApp. No forms, no new accounts, no friction.

More Than Just Gas

The same fast-track payment flow can be used for any digital asset within your dApp. Developers can configure specific items to be purchasable via Refract Pay:

  • A special in-game sword for $0.99
  • An exclusive NFT skin for $4.99
  • Consumable power-ups or access keys

This enables true Web2-style in-app purchases, powered by Web3 assets.

KYC-Free by Design (for the small stuff)

Refract Pay is architected for microtransactions. By keeping purchase amounts small and focused on utility within the ecosystem (gas, in-dApp items), we can bypass the need for intrusive KYC for these initial, crucial interactions.
